A quick Introduction

Welcome to my Blog. I'm really, really new at this, but I hope to make this both interesting and informative in the days and weeks to come. Actually, I'm not a complete "newbie", because I set up a blog once before and posted at least one entry! Thing is, I couldn't tell you where or when I did that for all the money in the world. So its safe to say that blog is lost to Cyberspace.

I developed an interest in passenger transportation - and passenger rail in particular - more than twenty years ago. The potential is readily apparent to anyone who bothers to look at the facts. Roads are gridlocked (and you literally can never build enough of them to meet demand), air travel is a real hassle, and buses incomfortable for long trips and inefficient at moving large numbers of people between major destinations. Each mode of transport obviously has its place, but the United States tends to rely far too much on roads and far too little on rail, for both freight and passenger haulage. The joy of the open road isn't so joyous anymore, and when was the last time you heard someone talking about how much they enjoyed the actual driving for their daily commute to work or long road trip to Grandma's house?

It doesn't have to be that way, and I'll explore just that in these pages. Hope to see you around.
